She was born on April 9, 1940 in Rio de Janeiro Brazil to Manuel Pereira de Moraes Clark and Eleanor Carroll Clark. Dorothy, known in childhood as “Dolly”, attended Escola Americana and graduated in 1958.  Throughout her life she maintained a strong connection to her childhood friends and her beloved Rio.  Dorothy came to the United States for college where she attended Marjorie Webster Junior college and received a BA in 1962 from the Boston University College of Arts and Sciences. In 1972, she received a Masters of Library Science from Simmons College school of Library and information Science. Dorothy worked at the Needham, MA public library as the young adult librarian and then at GTE Sylvania.  In 1982, she moved to Florida. She finished her career as a law librarian at Stetson University College of law in Gulfport, Florida. She took great pleasure in working with the students, faculty, public and her fellow librarians.

Dorothy is pre-deceased by two brothers, James Clark and Paul Henry Clark. She leaves behind two children, Denise Carroll Hill Thorn (Douglas) and John Lawrence Hill (Maureen Montanus), their father L. Clarke Hill Jr., a nephew James Clark and four grandchildren, Emilie Dorothy Thorn, Travis Clarke Thorn, Serena Eleanor Thorn and Bridget Nora Hill, as well as many cousins and friends.  Since becoming a grandmother Dorothy was affectionately known as VoVo.
